Vita Nova is a safe bridge to independence for former foster care, LGBTQ, and other homeless youth through supportive housing, education, employment, and life skills training. As the voice of homeless young adults, Vita Nova is working to eliminate homelessness for youth ages 18 to 25 in Palm Beach County.

Now, About the Role


The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) directs, supervises, and coordinates the organization’s overall financials and audits. Our CFO provides leadership, direction, and guidance for all team members.


Our next CFO will play an essential role in carrying our mission forward as youth homelessness continues to grow in Palm Beach County, where we operate a drop-in center and housing. Vita Nova is increasing its annual budget by $1M next year and needs a proficient and forward-thinking CFO who can make tough decisions about how to steer the agency based on financial arguments.


The CFO reports to the CEO and, as a member of the executive team, will collaborate with the CEO and COO to protect the integrity of the organization’s mission, embrace and assist clients, grow the agency, develop the team, and improve Vita Nova’s operational infrastructure.


Job Summary/Duties


The following is a sampling of the duties for this position. Candidates selected for an initial interview will receive a full job description prior to their interview.

  • Leadership and administration of agency financial operations.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and COO to protect the integrity of the mission, embracing and assisting clients, agency growth, team development and operational infrastructure.
  • Establish key financial outcomes and financial performance measures for each program area that can be tracked daily, weekly, and/or monthly.
  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting staff with the right technical and personal abilities to help further the organization’s mission.
  • Foster a success-oriented, supportive, and accountable environment within the organization.
  • Implement/Coordinate a performance management process for all Vita Nova employees, which includes monitoring performance on an ongoing basis and conducting an annual performance review.
  • Work with the CEO to establish effective training, professional development, performance management and retention strategies.
  • Ensure that all program activities operate consistently and ethically in accordance with Vita Nova's mission, vision, and values.
  • Assist with Human Resource-Related activities for new hires, including onboarding, background screening, and employee HR management.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Public Administration, Accounting, or Business Management
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the nonprofit sector with nonprofit fund accounting expertise (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles/GAAP) and a proven track record demonstrating fiduciary responsibility.
