Manasota ASALH

The Manasota branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (Manasota ASALH) is dedicated to promoting, researching, preserving, and sharing the rich history and culture of African Americans in the Sarasota–Manatee area. Founded nationally in 1915 by Carter G. Woodson, the visionary behind Black History Month, ASALH fosters knowledge, dialogue, and community engagement. Manasota ASALH strengthens education and leadership through impactful programs like Freedom School, scholarships, and community events. We are committed to empowering future generations while fostering a deeper understanding of Black history and culture.
