Reports To: Executive Director
ALSO Youth provides Advocacy, Leadership, Support, and Outreach for LGBTQIA+ youth and their families throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties on Florida's west coast.
For more than 30 years, ALSO Youth has worked to create affirming communities where LGBTQIA+ youth feel safe, supported, celebrated, and empowered to thrive.
As ALSO Youth continues to grow, we are strengthening the development systems and donor relationships that make our mission possible.
We're looking for a development professional who wants to help us take that work to the next level.
The Development & Donor Relations Coordinator is a key member of ALSO Youth's fundraising and development efforts, helping turn our mission, relationships, data, and stories into sustainable philanthropic support.
Working closely with the Executive Director and Board Development & Marketing Committee, this position helps execute ALSO Youth's Development Plan; manages donor stewardship and development systems; analyzes fundraising and donor data; coordinates appeals and campaigns; supports fundraising events; and helps keep donors and supporters meaningfully connected to our work throughout the year.
This isn't simply a database or administrative position.
We're looking for someone who understands that great development work happens at the intersection of relationships, storytelling, data, technology, and consistent follow-through.
You should be comfortable moving between a donor conversation, a CRM report, a spreadsheet, an email campaign, a newsletter, a fundraising appeal, and a Board report—and understanding how all of those pieces work together to strengthen philanthropy.
Help implement thoughtful donor cultivation, stewardship, retention, recognition, and re-engagement strategies.
Maintain and execute donor stewardship plans across donor segments and giving levels.
Coordinate donor acknowledgments, thank-you communications, impact updates, recognition, and other stewardship activities.
Help identify opportunities to deepen relationships with current, recurring, lapsed, and prospective donors.
Support the Executive Director and Board with donor cultivation, research, preparation, and follow-up.
Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, giving history, interests, and next steps.
Serve as the primary day-to-day administrator of ALSO Youth's donor CRM, currently Bloomerang.
Maintain accurate donor, gift, campaign, interaction, and constituent data.
Create queries, filters, donor segments, lists, reports, and campaign records.
Pull, clean, organize, manipulate, and analyze donor and fundraising data.
Build and maintain reports, dashboards, spreadsheets, and trackers.
Analyze donor retention, giving trends, recurring giving, lapsed donors, campaign performance, and other development metrics.
Translate data into useful insights that help leadership answer not only “What happened?” but “What should we do next?”
Coordinate with finance/bookkeeping to reconcile gifts and resolve discrepancies.
Help improve development workflows, data quality, reporting, and use of technology.
Help execute ALSO Youth's annual Development Plan.
Maintain development calendars, deadlines, campaign milestones, and follow-up.
Coordinate annual giving, direct mail, digital appeals, donor campaigns, and other fundraising initiatives.
Maintain donor and prospect pipelines and help ensure cultivation opportunities continue moving forward.
Track fundraising performance and help identify opportunities for growth.
Support prospect research and donor segmentation.
Support grant administration and reporting as needed, including maintaining grant calendars and records, gathering program and donor data, tracking deadlines and deliverables, and assisting with reporting requirements.
Communications are an important part of how we cultivate and steward our community.
In this role, you'll:
Manage regular donor and constituent email communications.
Develop fundraising appeals, stewardship communications, newsletters, campaign messaging, and impact stories.
Maintain website content related to our mission, programs, events, fundraising, and opportunities to get involved.
Coordinate and schedule social media content supporting organizational storytelling, community engagement, events, and fundraising.
Work with program staff to identify stories, outcomes, photos, and information that demonstrate ALSO Youth's impact while respecting youth privacy.
Help maintain a communications calendar aligned with organizational priorities, programs, events, campaigns, and relevant awareness dates.
Review engagement data to understand what's resonating with our community and improve future communications.
Help coordinate fundraising events, donor receptions, cultivation opportunities, and campaigns in partnership with staff, Board members, committees, and volunteers.
Manage development-related event systems including registration, payment processing, donor and sponsorship tracking, and follow-up.
Coordinate sponsor communications, recognition, and stewardship.
Provide Board and committee members with information and materials to support sponsorship outreach, invitations, and donor engagement.
Evaluate event and campaign performance and help identify lessons for future fundraising efforts.
Participate in Development & Marketing Committee meetings.
Prepare development reports, dashboards, donor information, and other materials for leadership and Board review.
Track development-related action items and follow-up.
Help equip Board and committee members to participate meaningfully in donor stewardship, cultivation, campaigns, sponsorships, and fundraising activities.
We're looking for someone who already has a foundation in development, fundraising, donor relations, advancement, philanthropy, or closely related work and is excited to continue growing professionally.
You may be a great fit if you:
Understand the fundamentals of donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and retention.
Have experience using a donor CRM or comparable constituent-management system.
Are comfortable doing more with data than entering it—you can query, filter, segment, organize, analyze, and interpret information.
Are confident using spreadsheets and working with data from multiple sources.
Can look at fundraising data and identify patterns, questions, opportunities, and next steps.
Are technologically confident and enjoy learning new platforms and systems.
Are an excellent writer who can communicate with donors and supporters in a warm, compelling, and professional voice.
Understand how communications and storytelling support donor cultivation and stewardship.
Are exceptionally organized and able to manage recurring responsibilities, projects, deadlines, and details without needing constant reminders.
Take initiative, follow through, and enjoy improving systems.
Are comfortable building relationships with donors, volunteers, Board members, colleagues, and community supporters.
Exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
Direct experience working with LGBTQIA+ youth is not required; a strong commitment to ALSO Youth's mission and ability to communicate affirmingly and inclusively is essential.
2+ years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, advancement, donor relations, philanthropy, or comparable work.
Experience with Bloomerang, Salesforce, Blackbaud, DonorPerfect, or another donor CRM.
Experience developing or executing donor stewardship strategies or stewardship matrices.
Experience with donor segmentation, retention analysis, LYBUNT/SYBUNT reporting, annual giving, or campaign analysis.
Strong Google Sheets/Excel skills.
Experience with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact.
Experience writing fundraising appeals, donor communications, newsletters, or campaign content.
Experience with website content-management systems, Canva, and social media/content tools.
Experience preparing fundraising or development reports for organizational leadership or Boards.
We recognize that great candidates don't always check every box. If you bring strong development fundamentals, relationship skills, technology and data fluency, excellent communication, and a willingness to learn, we'd still like to hear from you.
A specific degree is not required. Relevant professional and nonprofit experience matters to us.
In this role, success means:
Donors feel known, appreciated, and connected to ALSO Youth's impact.
Stewardship happens intentionally and consistently—not only when we're asking for money.
Our donor data is accurate, useful, and informs decisions.
Fundraising opportunities don't fall through the cracks.
Appeals and campaigns are thoughtful, organized, and measurable.
Leadership has clear information about fundraising performance and opportunities.
Communications keep supporters connected to ALSO Youth throughout the year.
Development systems become stronger, more efficient, and increasingly data-informed.
The Executive Director and Board have the information and tools they need to cultivate deeper philanthropic relationships.
75% employer-paid employee health insurance plus monthly stipend
Access to dental and vision coverage
Two weeks accrued vacation annually
Two weeks sick time annually
Regular paid holidays
Flexible hybrid schedule
Additional benefits in accordance with ALSO Youth policies
